If you have not been formally introduced, the protocol is quite specific. You would go to the lady's house, and ask the butler "is the lady of the house present?" Then you give your calling card to the butler with one corner slightly bent. This is a sign you are calling upon the lady specifically, and not the whole house. He would carry the card to the lady on a silver platter. If she was interested in a formal introduction, she would give the butler her own calling card, and he would present it to you with instructions on what times and dates she is accepting visitors. Certainly she would not accept an unannounced, un-introduced caller on his first visit.

Or you could just ask her, "what's your name?"

Her next step is to say her name. Your next step is to ask her when you can grab coffee, invite to party, whatever.
