Choice of words, timely pauses, eye contact with everyone involved to draw them in if you are losing them, change in tempo.

Story-telling is very similar to giving a presentation. You don't want to bore them should always have their attention. Maintain eye contact with people who are interested, get affirmation from people who aren't by getting them to nod or smile.

Plenty of youtube videos, watch speakers, definitive guide of body language (I think) is a good resource, I think Morgan freeman has couple of video regarding how to make your voice sound richer.

When telling a story:

Keep it short, people don't have time. Keep it basic, people dont are smart Keep it real, people want to trust you.

I have learnt that the story told actually doesnt matter much

It matters a bit.

Its mostly the way they tell their story (way of telling>story).

The biggest problem most people have telling a story is complete lack of structure, so get this right. Beginning and scene setting and foreshadowing, then story, then non-obvious conclusion.

The second biggest problem people have is utter inability to actually speak and be understood. You need to speak slowly, clearly, loudly and you make every sentence SIMPLE. SIMPLE. SIMPLER THAN THAT.

Note that the story can be as complicated as you like, but there should be no doubt at all about the words and purpose and meaning of every sentence.

Bad: "So my sister... not my eldest... my middle youngest... well, she's not really my sister, and interestingly when my mother gave birth to her, but I'm getting off track here, forget about my sister for now, she doesn't come into this story yet"

Good:" So I have this older sister. Do you have an older sister? Right, so you know what they're like, and she was just as you'd expect: bossy as all hell. You know the type, super bossy, always right... yeah, the kind of person you always want to bring down a peg.... which hahaha is actually what happened...."

The idea is that each sentence builds on the previous, keeps the listener engaged and keeps adding more relevant information about the story. Overlapping each sentence a little so that each sentence repeats a little and adds a little more info.

As mentioned above/below, make sure your stories are emotionally engaging: which means literally triggering people's emotions a little.

Any books you recommend that i need which could help me improve my voice, body language, story telling?. I want to learn

If you're serious join a public speaking class, eg ToastMasters.

Voice is basically: clear, loud, slow.

Body language: be open, don't hide anything, don't hide behind anything, eye contact.

Story telling: basics above, but make your stories funny, it helps a lot with the delivery if YOU are amused.

A lot of good advice here.

What you can do on your way there is pay attention to characters (preferably the hero/main character) of your favorite shows for how they deliver their lines; mimic it and hope some of it sticks.

The pauses and faces (from the actors) ARE what tells the story.

Was listening to a guy one day talking to a girl about himself in the cafeteria at work; he's been around the world or volunteered or some shit.

Unfortunately, because of this guy's story telling he was no more interesting than someone who had just done his grocery shopping for the week.

Make sure the show you're watching is a quality show and not just ones with a lot of boom booms and pew pew pew.
