I'm very new to this life philosophy, so bear with me. I also don't know--or subscribe--to all the lingo (like the HB shit, that's dehumanizing to me).
Decided last minute to go out last night with a group of friends I don't know that well, specifically because I wanted to practice opening. It was a great decision.
The bar was pretty alive. Decent music, but not too loud to open. Three floors. Lots of single women in small groups. It was a good situation. For the most part though, I had too much anxiety to take advantage of it. I'm still very uncomfortable with my openers, and worried that I will come off as a creep or interviewer.
But, I was determined to at least make the night productive. Went upstairs midway through the night and saw this really cute and fun group of people dancing. They were pretty much the only people dancing, and they also looked foreign.
I seat-jacked at a table nearby, and used that as an opener by asking one of the male members of the group if it was cool I stole their seat. He said "of course," and we struck up a conversation. I found out this was as class of students from a language institute in the city that just began a few weeks ago. They went out that night with their class and their teachers. The dude was clearly excited to meet an American from the area, and he seemed like a genuinely nice person. We talked about his country for a while.
Soon I pivoted, and extended the conversation to another member of their group, an absolutely beautiful, fun Latina who was dancing nearby (let's call her A). After exchanging details, pleasantries and names, I talked to a few of the teachers, then went back downstairs to my friends, so I didn't appear clingy/creepy.
Downstairs was pretty weak, although I did have a productive conversation with an unattractive but nice female in my group of friends. She was clearly sending IOIs so I must have been doing something right.
Anyway, after 30-40 minutes, I went back upstairs and talked to the male student and A again. They were very happy to see me again, and we had a good time. I also opened a conversation with two young staff members of the Institute next to us, and they seemed pleased and not intimidated by me. Left within 15 minutes.
After another 30 minutes of whatever, I went back upstairs one more time. This time, I really stepped up the exchange with A. She was initiating kino with me, and of course I was reciprocating, though I'm not sure if it was just a cultural thing and not so much an IOI. I'm going to take it as an IOI because...fuck it.
Short story shorter, A was making some noise about leaving. One of the teachers I talked to earlier told her I would buy a cab for her, to which she responded that in her country the females pay for their own cab. I didn't pursue this further, because it wasn't really a serious conversation. I will take the teacher's suggestion as a potential IOI.
After the male student asked for my facebook information with a pen and a pad, A looked at the exchange and asked what we were doing. I told her, then leaned closer to her ear, and asked her for her number so she could practice english with me sometime. She was very receptive, and grabbed my left hand, saying "In my country, you grab someone's left hand when you want to see them again." We then exchanged numbers and names again.
Obviously this sounds like money in the bank, but here are some potential caveats: * Her personality is super friendly -- no "shield" whatsoever that night * She doesn't speak English that well
So the question I have today, is should I text or call her? She was drinking so there's a possibility she doesn't remember me that well -- though I would hope not. She wasn't sloppy drunk. I'm most worried about the language barrier. I feel like a phone call would allow me to establish rapport and comfort much more than a text would. Thoughts?
As an addendum, here's what happened after for FR purposes:
Left the bar soon after because I wanted to leave on a high-note and I didn't want to miss the T back to my apartment.
Decided to go to a local bar close to my apartment solo, because...fuck it. Another good decision.
Opened a conversation with a pretty woman, a little older than me, at the bar while ordering a drink. Pretty lame conversation in retrospect, but fuck it, I opened. We talked about the good local bars in the area (I just moved), and some huge tools that were causing trouble at the other end of the bar. I didn't really bother to move the conversation anywhere, nor did I really demonstrate value or get any IOIs.
Ended the night by opening a conversation with a guy who was splintered off from his group for a moment. We had an awesome conversation about life and all its intricacies. It was great, and really reinforced my perspective that this "seduction" shit is not about getting women, it's about becoming a more confident, and social human being -- which can reaps benefits in many facets of your life.
Sorry for the terribly long post. Let me know if it's length detracted from it's utility. This was my first FR, and I'd like to become a more active member of the community. Suggestions and advice more than welcome!
