There is nothing wrong with you. You are doing what you have to do: approaches. Most guys are too chicken to go solo, you weren't. If this was your first time out, and you did 2 solo approaches, you should consider this a victory. You got a hook into that Who Lies More set, even if you ejected early. Don't worry, you become desensitized to rejection after you do more approaches. You will know what to do because you've seen it before.

Dont stop sarging. The only thing holding you back is calibration. I would suggest using situational openers. For instance: at bk you couldve opened up with a question about the menu, "hey just a quick question, have you guys tried the blah blah blah?" Establish social status, make fun and witty comments (maybe neg the target), and set up a friendly interation. If they remember you as a funny and socially developed person they will surly not snicker, or think the situation was weird. Good luck in the future man.

The first opener was lame. It didnt demonstrate any value or interest.

The second one,thats different. You had some major balls going into a six set of good looking girls man. Thats some alexander the great type of shit. And you did well,you just messed up the routine. So what? Practice in the mirror so that you remember it,and transition. Bk wasnt the best place though, you mightve telegraphed that you were trying to pick them up. I bet your body language could of been better too,but hey. That will come with time.

Great work man. You did well. You did some amazing shit. A six set is some impressive shit. Keep it up.

Are you kidding? You are surprised that your first time going out and your first approach failed? Even Neo didn't make the first jump in the Matrix.

If you can't take one day of feeling like a failure then I have bad news for you: unless you can get used to rejection you might as well give up pick up.

Oh, and approaching a set larger than 4 girls at a fast-food joint on your own is ballsy but it is a low chance situation. Two sets are the best - the bookstore is fine. At the beginning don't worry about anything but a 1-2 minute exchange - that is enough. Do 10 or 20 like you did in the bookstore and then start working on "hooking" the set by getting a 5-10 minute exchange. Start small and work your way up.

Fuji brought up a good example of how you feel. Think about a simple x-axis, with points from -10 to 10. I'm going to use -10 as a complete regression in game, 0 as your starting point, and 10 as a huge progression in game.

Most guys think that if they succeed with a set, they go from a 0 to anywhere from an 8 to 10

In the same vein, most guys think that if they blow out a set, they go from 0 to a -8 to a -10.

In reality, you progress from a 0 to maybe a 2, 2.5 with a success and stay neutral with a failure. But even with a failure, you learned something new about game so that you may in fact progress more from a failure than a success. The only way you regress, in my opinion, is if you let that failure affect you. If you feel bad about blowing out, you can regress anywhere from a -1 to a -10(where you drop out of game completely). And listen, its totally fine to feel bad about blowing out a set, its a completely natural reaction! But you cannot act upon those emotions. So like I said, being affected by failure is the only thing that is going to cause you to regress.

Like ThrowawayPUA said, you did approaches and for now you can reflect upon your day and know that you at least did that while a lot of us didn't. The best thing is that you don't make excuses for yourself. Its fine to vent. But just try to put things into perspective and realize that things aren't as bad as you make them out to be. I get blown out a lot, but I go back to my the table where my buddies are at and they're all babysitting their beers, and it helps me realize that I've progressed so much than from where I started.

Nothing's wrong with you. I think when you first start out, it's all experimental. You're finally seeing what it's actually like, and you're going to be overthinking things and it's going to be a mess. But as you do it more and more, it becomes more automatic and you don't have to think as much. No one goes out there their first time and nails it.
