First of all, fuck the haters that think #closing means nothing. There is an art to making her WANT to give you her number. I don't use facebook with HB's or anything else, thats a crucial point as well and needs to be posted on.

Secondly, this post is relevant to a Seddit FrontPager by JadenLevitt in which the post talks of targets being secondary, in this case my job came first (similar to the barman in the post).

So, HB8 walks into the coffee shop I work at on campus and ends up sitting with some girls that I know. Eventually I have to restock some stuff right over by where they are. So I approach our mutual friends first and do the friendly thing, and then I have to put some boxes away above their heads. So I do it. No attention paid to HB8. I come back again to put more away, ask them all how their drinks are and put one good sized box in HB8's hands, asking her to hold it for me, then I said something about whatever it was they were drinking, and put MY box in the cupboard, and then smiling I took her box and put it up as well. What when I opened her. It was a simple situational opener.

  • Me: "Thanks for holding that, I might have some more in a bit."

  • HB8: laugh No, Problem.

  • Me: So how do you guys know each other?

  • HB8: "Oh, we're in the same sorority!"

  • Me: Oh, right on! Why didn't I know that? Are you a freshman? (I hate sorority girls together, but once you get 'em one on one they're fine. So don't discriminate).

She definitely wasn't a freshman--This was my neg but also could be a real question. And it was good because obviously no one wants to be a freshman.

  • HB8: HAHA! nooooooo! I actually just graduated and am on campus visiting my friends.

All the while her friends are still there, I ignored them. I was to busy having a conversation and looking her in the eyes like people do when they are chatting.

  • Me: Oh cool, cool. So what? Did you move out of here and get sick job?
  • HB8: Yea! Well I just live at [a place closer to downtown] and I did get a sick job!
  • Me: Oh yea? Where?
  • HB8: [some regional marketing position] at Target!
  • Me: Hahah! Target?! You work at Target?! I guess thats awesome. (neg)
  • Me Again: I have to get back to work now. What's your name?
  • HB: [HB8]
  • Me: Well, [HB8], What did you study while you were here?
  • HB8: Marketing (or some shit)
  • Me: Oh! So you did actually get an awesome job! Congrats. I gotta get back to work. Later girls.

2 days later, HB8 Adds me on facebook. I didn't give her any information but my name, this means her friends told her about me, most likely qualified me, and she had to go through other people's facebooks to get to me since my profile is private and my name is shorter.

So 1 day after she adds me our messaging starts (verbatim, even punctuation--its important, as is timing): SUNDAY:

  • Me: Oh Hi, [Shortened nickname for HB8]. I See, now you just wanna creep on facebook. [She can't because I keep the rare HB that I accept on Restricted]

  • HB8(later that night): hahaha. I'm not a creep. Promise.

TUESDAY: (assuming attraction, this type of facebook add is IOI)

  • ME: Hmmmm. Debateable. I know you just want to hangout. We can make that happen
  • HB8 (few hours later): That's pretty forward

THURSDAY:

  • Me: Damn. My bad. Should I have asked for you number first.. ( I think here I meant "I should have" but was to drunk on Thanksgiving. Whatever, same effect)

SATURDAY:

  • HB8: Probs would have been a good idea

WEDNESDAY(today):

  • HB8:[HB8's #]

Badabing Badaboom. 3 messages, thats it.

I didn't have to put any real effort into this, other than being patient and not overthinking, overtalking, and overtyping. I kept my mindset right, had nothing to lose by being so "forward" and in the end it came out just as I expected. I probably won't even take this much further than pinging her tomorrow. Afterall, I asked her friend about her and she is "in a relationship and might as well be engaged". But I don't give a fuck, the game is too much fun!
