So I've been a lurker for maybe a couple weeks now. Aside from reading some slight undertones of douchebaggery now and then, I think I've learned a lot. I've been focusing on going into situations with no expectations and working on inner game, just by taking chances.

This was my first #close in a while so I figured I'd post the report and get some feedback.

Started around 5:00. I was waiting for a friend to get home from work and had already bused into his neighborhood. Figured I'd find a coffee shop since he told me he was running late.

Walk in, fairly dead and there's this really cute barista. We make some smalltalk, she asks me about my day and I tell her I just finished exams. She tells me her sister just finished and is really excited. I order my coffee and take a seat at a table nearby.

At this point I'm not sure of interest, and I'm not about to overestimate how friendly of a saleswoman she is. After about 15 minutes, the only other customers in there leave. She comes over to the part of the counter that's facing my table and smiles at me, so I figured I'd try another conversation. I asked her if it had been a slow day, and that led into her talking about herself a bit. She asked me about school and and expressed interest in what I was taking. She even came over to my table, to the point where I thought about asking her to sit down.

Some more customers came in though so I let the conversation end and she went to help them. Now at this point I would normally just say my goodbyes and be happy with that. I'd had a pretty solid conversation with a cute barista and felt good about myself. But I figured why not ask for her number? Things had been going well, I was pretty certain of interest, and even if I didn't get it, who cares?

It was back to just the two of us in the cafe, and I walked back over to the counter.

Me: I'm sorry, I never got your name. I'm matrex07 :)

Her: Hi matrex07, I'm *****.

Me: I had a nice time talking to you, thanks for keeping me company while I wait.

Her: I had a nice time too! I'm always here if you ever want to talk.

Me: Well do you wanna give me your number, maybe we can hangout sometime?

Overall I felt really good about it. It seems lame now writing out the conversation without body language or emotion but I hope the point got across.

One awkward thing that happened. I decided to leave before my buddy phoned my because I was getting impatient. Literally right as I had my phone out to type in her number it started ringing.

Feedback is welcomed :)

TL;DR Managed to turn waiting for an hour in a random coffee shop into #closing the cute barista, just by taking chances and not caring about the outcome.
