Indirect Openers

Love it, dude. Indirect openers are my favorite. I remember watching a bootcamp given by Owen from RSD and he was talking about being hyper-observant of your surroundings and the people within those surroundings.

Anytime a guy is having an issue opening, I always suggest indirect openers. Sometimes they do miss, but that's generally dependent on if the someone is outgoing or open to being approached. But, it's so much more natural and doesn't require any memorization.

If you really want to get good at these, I would recommend approaching everyone you see, not just targets, and using an indirect opener. Favorite example is if a guy is in line in front of you and he's having a hard time getting his money out, point it out (jokingly!). I saw someone wearing shorts yesterday and it was at most 32 degrees outside, so I jokingly told them, "Don't you think it's a little cold for shorts?" Just a couple of ideas to give you.

Indirect is great if you're into processes - Look at your environment and ask what yourself what you can comment about.

"Wow, cool shoes. Never seen that shade of blue on anyone before." "Awesome, what type of drink did you get? [coffee shop]"

That one wouldn't work on me, but I guess "Did you see me?" should work.
