I'm looking for some input from guys who have experience with hard to read girls or girls that aren't very responsive.

Here's the situation: I met this girl who seems to be into me, but I can't break through to her, when we meet. I had a quick chat with her and got her number. I then went on a quick instant-date with her (to a bar).

The date was rubbish, from my perspective. I couldn't get conversation flowing very well (there's a bit of a language barrier, but her English is pretty good). More importantly, I couldn't manage to escalate touch and I couldn't find opportunities to say anything really edgy or funny.

I went for elbow-touches and shoulder-touches accompanied by leaning in close, as we were talking. She basically didn't respond to any of this, so I wasn't sure how to go further (or even if I should, at all).

Our conversation was pretty interview style. She was asking me a ton of questions. She seemed genuinely interested, but as you know, interview questions rarely make for a really riveting discussion.

Despite the lame date, she invited me to a party the next day. I didn't really feel like it, but she kept at it until I went by. Seemed like she really wanted to see me.

It seems that she's into me but she's just a bit emotionally closed off. Doesn't show her feelings easily etc. I'm actually the same way and I bet many people are. That's why I'm posting this here: I'd love to get some ideas of how to deal with this personality type.

TL;DR: Met a cute but hard to read girl, got her number, went on a date that didn't go anywhere, got invited to a party, met her again and it still didn't go anywhere.

P.S.: The only time I felt some reciprocation was when I left. I go in for a hug, when I leave (also when I meet) and she seemed to like the hug. Went in for a second one.
