The other night I got off work at my bar and popped right into pickup. Headed for this really cute HB8 with pink pants on and a gorgeous smile.

"Hi, I just got off work and before I go I had to say you are very cute and get a chance to meet you."

"Oh, hey a bit confusedly but sincerely thanks. I'm HB 8."

"You having a good time out so far?"

"Yea, just getting some food here" my bar is mostly older 40 somethings so this is reasonable

"Cool, what you get"

"Chicken Quesadilla"

"Niiiice, those are really good here"

"So, you on your way to some raging party from here?"

"I'm not sure"

"Well you should be"

Immediately she is distracted by the bartender who is pouring here beer. As I try to keep the convo going, 30 seconds have passed and she is watching him work on the tap (its busted or something) for her drink. I was not sure how to handle this so I bailed for home.

The reason I am asking about this is because it happens too often to me where a distraction leaves me standing there feeling very awkward. How do you all proceed with something like this?
