I was out soloing last week. I opened a set with a girl and we started talking and hitting it off. Out of nowhere comes this older guy (in his 50's). Totally hammered. The girl knows him from work (they were at a work gathering at the bar). This guy talks to her, gives her a hug, kisses her hand, the whole thing. Tries to buy me a drink which I refuse. Apologizes for butting in (some kind of wannabe AMOG action but I don't let it interfere with my state. I just sit back and watch the show). She politely laughs at his slurred jokes but I knew that she wasn't super comfortable with the situation. I eventually convince him to go to the dance floor with me and then ditch him.

And you know what happened? He eventually got his ass thrown out of the bar (some other reason). I bet that, in his mind, he was the shit. He was Mr. Social, talking to everyone, flirting with all the ladies, and was the coolest guy in the room. As someone who has stopped drinking heavily while trying to game (ESPECIALLY when soloing), I got to see the truth. Just an old guy that was making an ass out of himself and got thrown out for his efforts.

I have definitely been that hammered and recall being the shit the next day. I've gotten phone numbers while pretty drunk. But who knows? Perhaps my friends are too polite to tell me the truth.

Don't allow booze to be your crutch. It will NOT help your game. Whatever gains you make while drunk, you could make twice as much while sober (or just lightly buzzing). You don't need it. Really.
