I'm about halfway through the Real Social Dynamics videos from Tyler Durden. It really is a LOT of information to take in, but I've let some valuable things seep in that has helped me tremendously.

1. Don't wait for your mind to give you the manual

Tyler discussed this brilliant analogy involving you and your mind being the pilot and co-pilot of a plane, respectively. Neither of you know how to fly it but there is a manual being held by your mind. You tell your mind "we're flying this plane, now give me the manual." Your mind says "Hell no! I won't do it! We're not flying!" You flick some switches and the plane's motors start up. "Give me the manual!" Your mind still refuses. You get the plane going and lift off. "Okay, we're flying, you better give me the damn manual!" And your mind finally gives in and hands it to you.

What this means is that if you want to solo for the first time, don't let your mind talk you out of it. Just put on your clothes, walk to the car, and fucking get in. Your mind will be screaming at this point. Just say "we're doing this and if you don't help me we're going to crash and burn." Start the car and drive. Your mind will come around and the knowledge will flow (mostly). It's the only way you'll grow.

2. A man should always be leaning into his fears.

If you're nervous before going out, or nervous about that date, or nervous about approaching....good! You're on the edge of your comfort zone, where you should be! The more victories you have with overcoming your fears and comfort zone, the better! We're all at different stages in this. I'm still in the early stages of approaching and trying to build attraction. I have a big date tonight and I'm nervous as hell. I embrace it. Why? Because I know I'll push through it and I'll be glad I did. Pass or fail, I'll just have that much more data to analyze and improve myself from. It's a hell of a lot better than where I used to be. If you're not leaning into your fears, how will you overcome them? It's like playing a first person shooter with only bots set at the easiest difficulty level.
