Can I ask how old are you? Your situation screams "high school", which is okay, but you should probably stick to /r/highseddit.

Bringing up the subject of exclusivity (her being your one-and-only girlfriend) should be something you do after you've been dating/seeing each other for a little while. She would already know you well enough at that point, in which she wouldn't be able make such a statement.

If I were you, I'd consider this one game over. Definitely LJBF. Move on and don't waste your time thinking about this girl anymore. You don't want to be a beta-orbiter in her friend zone. There are plenty of others you haven't tried yet. Just don't ask them to be exclusive with you off the bat, lol.

Dude, i'm 90% sure she meant what she said. Been in this situation before and we actually become official "boyfriend and girlfriend" in about a month after her saying that. She's wants to see if you have what she wants in a boyfriend. Simple as that, until then I would assume you guys are just dating, not "let's just be friends". And I personally didn't bring it up again, I waited for her to bring it up because she would only mention it again when she was comfortable enough too. Don't force it on her or anything or get impatient.

Why would you ask her to be your girlfriend? You lost every bit of power you had. Exclusivity is a female trait. Let her bring it up and play it off for a bit. You'll learn for next time.
