Allow me to recap, like 6 weeks ago I turned 21. I go out to a bar by a local college with my friends and he sees this girl he knows and is with her friends. I immediately spot this HB9 and she's with another guy but making eye contact with me but looking away as she's talking to the other dude. I ask her friend what the deal is with her and she said she was there on a date. I say oh ok and move on. Hangin' out, shootin' the shit rest of the night. Next thing I know, I'm being pulled through the crowd to dance with this HB9 by her friend. The HB and I are dancing and whatnot (no making out or anything, just grinding) and enjoying each other. So after about 4-5 songs, her date approaches us and I back off immediately. She and this kid like dance for a minute then leave. No problem. So my friend and I leave. He get's a friend request from the HB9's friend. Next week we kinda make loose plans to meet at the same bar, she says they have been there too much and can't come. Whatever. They show up about 25 minutes after we get there. I'm a few drinks deep not expecting this girl (HB9) to show up. So I go up to her and chit chat with her, she goes and gets a drink and sits down at a table. My buddy and I ponder what to do so we go over and ask the basics: name, school, major... I instantly run out of things to say. She asks me my age and shit. Told her I'm 21 and a freshman (went to technical school for 2 years and worked for a year), she's 21 and a grad student for organic chemistry. Obviously different stages in our life. She says she and her friends will be back and they go to the bar and do girl talk and then go sit at a different table. My buddy asked the friend between the groups what the deal was and she says I'm too young. Understandable. So i forget about her and we go on with our night. Nothing happens for like 3-4 weeks, I see her out at bars. Don't say hi or anything, dance with different girls, whatever. So she's at the bar where we met and I'm with another girl who is just a friend and we're dancing and I can see HB9 getting jealous and looking at me with disdain. I say fuck her and keep on doin' what I'm doin'. Well, last night I go to this bar I frequent but never see this HB9 in. Don't you know, she's there. Make eye contact, she looks down. I go to bar and get a drink. She and her friend sneak in next to me and she initiates convo. I touch her waist and act all surprised to see her. (honestly didn't recognize her completely when I saw her, took me a min) Chit chat about thanksgiving and introduce myself to her friend. We small talk for a min or 2 leaving HB9 out of convo. She barges in with a different topic. Talk with her, ask for her number because I'm meeting my friend here and I GTG, saying we should hang out outside the bar scene and get coffee or a bite to eat. She "doesn't give her number out" so she asks for mine. I playfully turn her down saying that it doesn't work that way and when she's ready to give it to me to come find me and touch her arm and walk away. So I go down to my buddies and about 15 min later we end up with her group (HB9 and friends) and I'm dancing with HB9 again. The night goes on and I see other friends of mine and dip out occasionally to see them. This HB9 is now dancing with another dude. Probably trying to make me jealous. So I small talk with her friends and dance with other girls. This dude and HB9 are goin to town on each other dancing. Making me jealous but showing no emotion. Close to end of night, she turns me down for a dance and leaves with her friends because the bar is closing.

TL;DR Meet girl at bar, hit it off, don't see her for a while, plays hard to get when I do see her, tries to make me jealous. Leaves without #.

Did I mess up or can I keep this going? Should I give in and give her my number?

Update: I was at a restaurant and HB's friend was working. Spoke to her about HB. HB was in fact not trying to make me jealous but was just being friendly with a guy she went to high school with. Friend also commented that HB thinks I'm "cute, fun and would text me".
