Creepy = unattractive/poor men hitting on them. If same situation was done with a rich good looking dude, no longer creepy.

You know, if you don't want a man talking to you, instead of unjustly calling him a creep in your mind, you could just as well say, "I'm sorry, I don't feel like talking to you. Bye."

That's a pretty nice way to put it; and guys will back off. You don't need to think of an offensive thing to say to put them off.

The author of the blog post might as well call every guy that talks to her at a bus stop a "creep." But then again, why can't a woman who talks to her also be labelled as a "creep?" Anyhow, that's a different argument altogether.

There's no way the author could get by in my city without fearing a "creep" will talk to her. The people in my city are very nice, and big on conversation; it's like talking is all they do. But you can't avoid that. Some people just like to talk to others, whether they're strangers or not. It's this kind of fear that's created so much anxiety in people that you don't hear passer-bys greet each other anymore.

I gave the article a good solid skim. I see this woman's point from the perspective that coming off as dishonest or as someone with an agenda is basically what sets off alarm bells for women. If you approach with the mindset of only wanting to fuck - as Tyler would put it - a meat sock, then you're going to be seen as a creep. You have to realize that:

The woman is still a human being.
She may or may not like you.
You may or may not have chemistry.
The logistics of the situation may not work out.
She looks at sex in the same way as you do.

Girls over use the shit out of the word. I seriously went up to a girl once and asked for the time, (seriously that's all, i didn't have my phone on meand was running late somewhere). Her full of herself friend goes 'who is that creep'.

This is a load of bullshit. Basically, don't do anything that could creep any girl out. Hell, I'll just stay in my room forever and do a huge service to girls by not ever being near them again.

I appreciate the aspect of trying to generate ideas for not coming off as creepy but the source material is junk. You're attributing personality traits to the action itself. Many guys are quiet and shy by nature, and awkward in public. It does NOT mean we want to rape girls. By perpetuating this stereotype, it essentially destroys any guy with lower than "normal" self esteem, because hey, this guy probably wants to rape you since he's being abnormal. Christ I'm sorry to go on a rant but this shit makes my blood boil.

The main reason guys come off as creepy is because they're socially uncalibrated, not because they are asserting male privilege or some shit like that. And in learning to become socially calibrated, they will inevitably creep some more women out.

Playing to not lose isn't the same thing as playing to win. Your primary goal shouldn't be to not creep women out, to not offend anyone or to be as apologetic as possible. You want to minimize making women feel unsafe, but the result of any initiative is always unknown. There is always risk. That's the risk you take on as you choose to play the game of human interaction, even as a woman walking out into the street.

Wow I'll never make eye contact or say "Hi!" to any women at the bus stop, ever again! I didn't know men could be skeevy by nature of just existing.
