Feel free to skip to the last paragraph for a TL;DR.

What can I say, Seddit? I’m being a fucking idiot. About 3 months ago my girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me. It’s been shitty. Real shitty. I’ve been feeling really down, and on top of that I just moved to a new city for work so I really don’t have any friends around or a support system or even anyone to talk to. So what do I do? I start talking to my one-itis again, the girl I was crazy about for years in college. The girl I was in love with, but never had the balls to tell her how I felt. Yes, I. Am. A. Retard. We talk all the time, hours a week, and I can feel some of those old feelings coming back. I know I shouldn’t be doing this since she lives hours away and nothing can come of it (plus I know she only sees me as a friend). But it feels so good to have someone to talk to, someone I care about. And it feels so bad to be absolutely alone.

The problem is I’m getting content with just having her to talk to and it’s stopping me from going out and meeting new girls. I’m not going out. I’m not meeting people. I’m not advancing my game. I'm just going for the instant-gratification of talking to her. She’s a crutch that I’m using to get over my breakup, but I know I need to snap out of it and get through the pain so I can move on. How can I do it, seddit? How can I man up and fight through this shit and find the motivation to move on when it’s so much easier to pick up the phone and call her, knowing she can put a smile on my face? Have any of you gone through anything similar? What did you do? Any advice that can help motivate me to get out there and move forward?

Sorry for the whine session, seddit, but I’d really like to know how some of you have found the motivation to move on after a breakup. Especially I’d like to know what I can do to avoid falling into the trap of one-itis while I’m in this shitty place in my life. How can I find the motivation to get through this bad time in my life without this crutch and break through to something better?
