So I've been lurking here for the last few weeks and my buddy and I have been setting mini goals for every time we go out for amount of people we're going to talk to. However, we live in a college town and the bars that have people our age play loud club music and it ends up being next to impossible to get a decent conversation going.

My question is, is this typical of other towns too or should be try to find a place that is a bit more conducive to conversation?
