Sets: 04 || #Close: 01

Summary

  • Invited BASer (Bay Area Sedditor) to Cheeseboard, got number of Cambodian cashier in convenience store, then met up with his friends to go to concert.
  • Talked with Swedish girls.
  • Opened girlfriends of one of the bands.
  • Bounced to bar where BASer and I hung out on balcony overlooking bar, talking about AA and PU. Wish I had been approaching, but it was nice to just be part of this kind of scene again after two years out.
  • Banter between BASer and his bandmates was amazing. Would love to learn how to banter like that.

Important Sets

  1. Cambodian Cashier: Cashier at convenience store. Went in for gum. She gave me eye-contact right away, but there was little hesitation on my part to react to her eye contact and begin flirting. The interaction was fun and relatively smooth. How did I get the number? Well, I think on the one hand, I was just friendly and talkative, she wasn't terribly pretty, her English wasn't the best and maybe she thought she could practice, but on the other hand, maybe she was nervous about giving her at work.
  2. Band Girls: Saw tall blond walking past. Made eye contact, smiled, said, “Hey!” Then I stopped her with my elbow, stood in her way, and for a second, it looked like we knew each other from before. I lost that feeling right away, though, because I went into interview mode. I merged the set with my group of friends, which went pretty well, but the girls were actually the girlfriends of the guys in the previous band!
  3. Pissy Girl: Saw lonely-looking girl from balcony with BASer. She was sort of fit, but not great looking and was being ignored; her cute friend was getting all the attention. On a dare, I approached her. I did it super physically, trying to get her to dance. She pushed me away and I ejected. Next time, I need way more persistence, but it took me maybe ten minutes to do this approach, so I'm just glad I went and did it.

Follow-up

  1. Cambodian Cashier: Texted that Cambodian girl and got no reply. I thought the interaction was somewhat solid, so I'm honestly surprised, but she doesn't speak English and, fuck, I just realized her phone might not even be able to text! I'm calling her right now. lol OMG she picked up and said her phone can't text. She's an ESL student and works all the time, but she told me to call back on Sunday because she sometimes gets off early on Sundays. Sweet. :D The only reaosn I thought of this is because a wing I'm meeting today just told me his phone can't receive text. Thanks, new wing!

Sticking Points

  1. Approach Anxiety: Approach all. Minimize time between sets.
  2. Banter: Choose one banter line and use it the next twenty times you hook.

Lessons

  1. Who to Go Out With: For now, avoid going out with non-PUAs because, at this point, you get psyched-out of getting your sets in. You can ease up on this rule later when your AA is better.
  2. First Night Out: First night out after two years of relationship. Awesome.
  3. No Reply? Call Her!: If she doesn't text you back, call her! Not only may something be up with her phone, but she may respond better, and if she picks up it puts some social pressure on her to at least agree to something. Even if it's not solid, you persisted, which is what you need to do to make shit happen.
