If you have nothing in common what's the point? At least imo attraction isn't purely looks. Personality can shift people either way on the scale.

If you have fun with her give it a try go on some dates have some sex figure out if there's actually something there, if not then atleast you had some fun. As far as your roommate goes he's probably feeling some similar feelings about you and this girl as well.
