I'll keep this brief, I just got off work. I recently have been working on my game through the values of seddit, and branching out and looking for new experiences I got a job as a bouncer at a local bar.
I should make a note here: I am not a big guy, 5'11" 170 lb, not built. However it has helped me step up my game by forcing me to take control of situations (its my job). Depending on the club you go to, in my case, my job is more counting/door management than actually breaking up fights, you become a recognizable face to a ton of people, you make friends working at said club.
Is it a crutch? Yes, but it gives you a clearer social dynamic to learn to interact with people. I've only been working as a bouncer for 3 weekend nights and I can tell who's going to cause trouble at the door or signal people using body language only.
I think for some people who are feeling a bit lost but want to go out, this could be a good way to go. Just keep in mind, it's hard work, you will get dirty, but, self improvement isn't easy.
