So I have some open ended questions or need of advice in this post. If you think I could do something better or interpreted something wrong, let me know. I'm here to learn.

Background: My ex and I broke up a few weeks ago. So I've been lurking here for advice to find new women. I'm 22, but I don't drink, so a lot of the advice here about going to clubs and bars doesn't apply to me too much. So I get creative where I try to pick up chicks.

Last Weekend: I tried a few places, like Barnes & Noble or Starbucks. But I didn't see anyone I could approach. Everyone at Starbucks was studying for finals, so I felt it would be really rude to chat someone up while they were trying to focus. Also, I was still nervous about approaching. Chalked it up to a dry run.

Then I gave another shot this weekend. I went to Gamestop on Friday night to see if there would be anyone there. There was a cute girl behind the counter around my age and we talked for a bit. It was good practice to talk to her because the workers tend to start the conversation and are pretty friendly.

The next day (which was yesterday) I went all over looking for cute girls. I went to the mall and didn't see anyone I wanted to approach.

The actual report: Then I went to the one of the comic book stores in my area. Not too long into my comic browsing I see a really cute girl. She was browsing the action figures and then made her way to the DC section. She had grabbed a Cyborg bobble-head from the Teen Titans show. So used that to open the conversation.

“Is the from the new Teen Titans show or the old one”

And that struck up a pretty good conversation about Teen Titans and DC comics in general. She was a real fan of Deathstroke and Red Hood. We were having a pretty good talk. In fact, there were a couple times she talked right over me. I hope that was a good sign that she was excited just to be talking to someone about something she likes. (Chime in if I interpreted this wrong.)

However, I slowing came to realize a few things: she mentioned she didn't have a driver's license, was wearing a varsity track hoodie, mentioned her dad had drove her, no mention of a job or finals. Oh boy, I'm pretty sure I'm talking to a high-schooler. She looked like she could've been twenty, but I don't think she was. I'm very bad at guessing ages.

Side note: I'm gonna say talking and not flirting. I wasn't really flirting since I don't know how to do that. In fact, I prefer just casually talking with people. I feel like I would flop at flirting it would just come off as creepy.

I really didn't want to be that guy who was asking for the number of someone underage. Plus, even if she was 18, I'd prefer the person I take out on date to at least have a car. The last girl I dated didn't have a car or a job, and it was a strain on my wallet to always pay for gas.

Not long after I've reached my conclusion she was a little young for me, he dad walked into the store because she was taking so long. It seemed she lost track of how long she was in the store cause we were talking. She wandered off and paid while I talked to another guy in the store about Green Lantern stuff.

In Conclusion: Either way, I'll call this a victory since I cold approached someone and was able to keep a conversation going. Considering I always have a hard time starting conversations with strangers. I could've cooked spaghetti in my sweating hands, but I managed to be pretty calm about it all. Hopefully, I'll have better luck next time with finding someone closer to my age and then I'll feel comfortable asking for a number.

I also didn't go for any kino stuff. I'm very uncomfortable with that, and I feel the types of women I would go after would instantly start thinking of me as a creep for it. Also, sweaty hands really works against this.

Please chime in with any advice. Either on how to do better next time or how to write better field reports.
