Have the balls not to hoverhand, remember that you're completely comfortable with being around attractive women, and just escalate and build rapport like normal. In fact, you've got millions of things to talk about everywhere, a bunch of places to move her around to, and very little serious competition... I think this is gonna go well for you.

From personal experience, girls at anime cons are very open minded, so they don't care if you're a bit weird/quirky. Be very spontaneous and have a good time with everyone!

Also, most guys are nerdy in a way that is unattractive, so this will make you look good even if you're just average. This headstart might give you a confidence boost!

Be confident.
Don't lack confidence.
Use 3 second rule, open a set within 3 seconds of seeing them, and do so with confidence.
Don't give a fuck.

You are now not a creepy dude. Which makes you infinitely more attractive than every creepy dude at the convention. You can even "protect her" from creepy guys at the con.

Last but not least, don't go to the con just to hit on girls, it makes you creepy.
