This was my horrible date that I fucked up royally. Like textbook what NOT to do. Please don't laugh (too loudly).

Intro

Met girl at a bookstore, she's new to the city, text back n forth for a month and finally go on date. She buys me the first drink (she had postponed the date from prior week so she "owed" me).

Date night

Get to a chill rooftop bar w/ a great view (230 5th), where the 2 cute hostesses are my friends. I say hi to them and intro my date, and we chit chat for a cpl minutes. During this time, my back is almost turned away from my date and i'm focused on the hostesses. Finally I tell them we're going to be sitting in the back.

So we're drinking and talking, basic getting to know each other. I ask her what sort of guys she usually dates (part of my self-disqualification routine). She says she doesn't date much and doesn't have a specific "type".

I run very light kino on her, sometimes she's good w/ the touch, sometimes she'll physically back away from me. If she backs away I try to mirror her.

Venue change

We get another drink and go to a nearby jazz lounge, where I again know the host and we get exceptional service.

We have some whiskey, I'm being charming as fuck, she's laughing at my jokes, touching her hair constantly. I make her get up and dance with me even though nobody's dancing. She was pretty embarrassed/self-conscious about it, in hindsight it may have been a bit much.

We now have to leave, she has a birthday party to go to and I have to hit the clubs. We walk out, I grab her hand, pull her in for the kiss...

and she says she has a boyfriend who lives in Germany.

At this point, I get pretty reactive. I was actually surprised, and instead of just dropping it nonchalantly (what I should've done) I stayed on the topic. Now we're standing on the sidewalk, I'm dismayed at the situation, and we're having a not-so-pleasant conversation. I asked why she came out on a date w/ me...I became pretty judgmental. I said that I was being pretty clear and direct in my intentions, but she wasn't. She acknowledged her shitty behavior and said maybe we shouldn't see each other again. I agree, hail her a cab, and go about my way.

I KNOW. I know. I'm cringing as I'm writing this
