Brief background: I'm 29, been in 2 LTR's throughout my ENTIRE 20's, just got out of the last one, and looking to make up for lost time. I'm in great shape, dress well and have many things going for me, aka not insecure about my life. Admittedly I am a borderline AFC (too nice) who has been reading PUA materials suggested here for a few months; I'm trying to learn quickly and get back into the game. I appreciate your feedback on my posts very much as I try and get better, and I hope this helps others. I'm writing this 30 minutes after I got back from an unsuccessful date, here is the account.

I pulled a beautiful Asian chick, 21, in a bar on Sunday. I told her she was cute, put my arm around her for basic kino, shot the shit for a minute, let her go, and when I thought she didn't care to talk anymore, she returned to me and said she was leaving, so I gave her my phone and in went her number. I followed the advice of Paul Janka and texted her the next day (Monday) during the afternoon to meet up on a weeknight no later than 4 days after I met her (Thursday) at 9:30pm in a laid back bar. I kept the texts brief and to the point, and so did she (which was weird but I ignored it), assumed interest and said "see you then". I didn't text her at all until she texted me Thursday at 8:45pm asking if I was still going. I replied "Yes" and left it at that, remembering economy of words. Before and during our time spent, I tried to focus on an acronym QKA - quiet down, kino, abundance mentality. She walked into the bar 10 minutes late and teased her I was about to leave in 5 minutes, as Janka suggested to do if they are late but not over 15 minutes late (the cut off for bailing on a date).

The date begins: Eye contact, smile, hugs, we walk to the bar (no place to sit unfortunately). I ask what she wants, but we end up ordering individually. I take this opportunity to joke about our license pictures so I can see hers and learn her name because I never got it, which works like a charm. We'll call her Lucy. I lead Lucy to the back of the bar to sit outside, but am thwarted by a waitress saying they just closed it. Bummer, shit start. So we go back and find seats next to each other at the bar with football games on and a shitty acoustic cover singer. I make playful banter without being a monkey show, trying to tease things out of her, break the ice etc. But the ice ain't breaking; there's some encouraging smiling and brief eye contact but very little reciprocation, something's not right. It's like pulling teeth trying to get her to talk about herself, so I don't force it and there are awkward silences (she asks virtually nothing about me). I sit close to her for incidental kino, which is borderline at best. Finally, Lucy admits she was about to go to sleep and took medicine - making her drowsy - before the date because she was sick all week. When I ask why she came out despite this, she said she wasn't a heartless person. At this point, I joke about getting some shots to wake her up, which I was going to order anyway, but the bartender ended up being unavailable so I made a joke about him and decided to lead her out of the place for a change of scenery since it wasn't going well in general.

Onward to the second bar: As we walk, I notice Lucy is not walking close to me at all, almost intentionally a foot or two next to me, so kino is out at this point. Every time I ask her about her interests or her life, the answers are brief and negative, but yet she continues to walk with me and sometimes smiles when I play with whatever short answers she gives (I take nothing to heart or joke as if I did). I would call it not enthused at all but not hating the time spent either. Just a brick really.

Into the next (and final) bar: We go in, Lucy says she's never been there and doesn't seem to mind checking it out. I order one more round of drinks for the both of us, bringing us to the max (2) Janka suggests before either sealing the deal or calling the date off. This time I lead her outside and we sit beside each other touching legs and arms, back into incidental kino. Things seem to finally de-ice a bit and I get more smiles and talk from her, but she is noticeably tired and irritable. I bring her inside when she gets cold and we sit apart looking at each other (no choice). However, this ends up being very good as I work some awesome eye contact and further thaw the situation, she finally begins to open up a bit. She pulls more "I'm tired" shit, so I tell her I'm leaving, and she begs me to stay. I tell her to give me her hand, which she does, and I start to massage it. There is no reciprocation. When she takes it back, I let time pass, eye contact + banter, and tell her I want her hand again. This happens a third time, she begins playing with her cell phone, then makes a comment she needs her hand and pulls it away. I get annoyed because she doesn't ask anything about me at all and is on her phone in front of me, when I tease her about this she laughs and shapes up but only for a minute. I tell her I'm free after the weekend on Tuesday to couch a possible return date convo for the hell of it, she says she'll probably be tired from work etc. Finally I decide to call it off, head to the bathroom, come back and give her a brief back massage (kino) and tell her let's go.

The goodbye: We walk out and Lucy says she's sorry a few times for her state, but I believe this is also a cop-out because she made such a shitty effort to show any interest at all, and I believe it wasn't all from the medicine. I was parked on the next block and she lives further into the (safe) neighborhood, so I decided I wouldn't be walking her to her house, told her I was parked here, and gave her a hug. I then put the ball in her court and told her if she wanted to chill Tuesday night, to text me. We hugged again briefly and parted ways.

The drive home: I got a bit of AFC-itis and thought maybe Lucy needed to be told what to do or I wouldn't get a response at all and lose another shot at her because I wasn't aggressive enough; maybe the next time would be better because she'd feel better - kind of a mix of alpha and beta thoughts going on at once. So I sent a text telling her she gets one chance to make the date up to me without being sick or taking medicine, and that I'd see her on Tuesday. No response.

Overall reaction: I'm proud of how I conducted myself both in deploying the techniques I've learned here for the first time and my general demeanor, this was a really tough date to get back into the game with and I felt I did very well, it was on her that she sucked and missed her chance to be with an awesome guy, which is how I look at it. Still, as right as I may feel, this mentality only gets me a date with Palmela Handerson for the night, so I'm obviously a bit frustrated.

Things I could have done differently: I'm interested in your thoughts. I think perhaps I should've been more demanding of her attention in the beginning, and maybe even calling the date off sooner would've attracted her to me more, but I'm not certain anything could've saved this one. I'm also a bit unsure of the last text that I sent her, but what's done is done. Am I correct in thinking the next step is to just move on (feels bad man)?

Thanks for reading my first FR, much appreciated and I hope you found it interesting to some degree! Even though it was unsuccessful, it was admittedly awesome giving all these theories their first go.
