I (34m) met a woman (29f) over the summer, but I never pushed for her number because she seemed cold. Through a group of mutual friends, we all hung out and I still didn't ask for her number because she seemed cold. I honestly felt repulsed by her demeanor. The third time we hung out in a group, we talked for a bit and I took her number.
Last night, we went out to a bar together, and talked and had a few (too many) drinks. From what I gathered, she just left a relationship with her ex-bf that she was seeing/screwing hoping he would be the guy she wanted and not who he was now. I changed the subject whenever he came up, and we had a fun night.
Towards the end of the night, we were in the back of a bar talking and she brought up being cold because of her ex-bf. I changed the subject after conversing with her a bit about it. I kissed her and she responded in kind. That set off a chain of events of us kissing in her car with her straddling me (clothes on) for 20 minutes. We both laughed and departed.
This afternoon I received the "Things are moving too fast for me" text message with her talking about "not doing those things" on a first date. Whereas, I understand that every woman is different, but every woman I saw who was like this from the start was extremely difficult and guarded. The common theme between all those women was just getting out of a relationship or being in a tough relationship relatively close (1-2 months) to out interactions. In my experience with this type of women, anytime sex became an inevitable scenario, they completely lost their minds. I have dated many women in the past, where sex or "moving too fast" was not an issue.
On a similar note, in Models by Mark Manson, he discussed dating or seeing some women whom were attracted to him but were "broken" or "damaged" by previous relationships. These type of women he described only knew how to lash out at him or create discomfort because that was all they knew. They couldn't handle a confident, self-aware, assertive man because their past experiences with men were negative--or perceived to be negative.
Honestly, one of the reasons I went against my initial feelings was to see if my intuition was right. I honestly feel that if I was to continue pursuing her, I would be allowing her disharmony into my life. The former "nice" guy in me wants to try to fix her, but the current me is tired of doing that and doesn't want to anymore.
I know all of the canned phrases from /r/seduction like pursue other women (which I will), move on (which I will), why are you worrying about one girl (I am more concerned with breaking the pattern of drawing in these type of girls), and don't get one-itis (I won't).
What I do want to know is your experiences with women like the women I have described.
I also want to know if my assumptions are within reason or I am just afraid of leaving my comfort zone.
I don't think I should have to deal with a woman who is hung up on her ex. Tell me your opinion.
