This is something I've been noticing recently. Whenever I'm in a group of acquaintances (outside of class or something and the conversation is moving fast, I do that kind of thing where you say something really fast and chuckle at it and look around to see others' reactions. I know this is needy, but how do I prevent it? It's hard to stay in the conversation without really pressing to get something in edgewise and when I do it's kind of silly or needy sounding.

Or does it even matter what I say? Am I just overanalyzing?
