I'm a junior in college at a pretty big urban university, and I do pretty well for myself with girls. A few weeks back I went out and met a girl and we hit it off. Things looked to be going in the direction of her coming home with me, but when we were out at a club (with a large group of others that we both knew) we split up briefly and when I saw her again it was like a switch had turned off. I didn't sweat it and ended up finding another girl that night, and didn't really think much of it. Doesn't always work out.
Earlier this weekend I ran into her and was later talking with a female friend of mine who's also friends with the girl. I mentioned what had happened with her a few weeks back, and my friend revealed that apparently I have a reputation among girls for having a lot of one night stands. Wasn't able to get any more info about it from her but I think that's all I need to know. (Before I removed my Lulu profile I had #GoneByMorning plus a couple others in that vein...)
It's pretty accurate to be honest so I'm not entirely surprised. I have high standards for what I want in any extended dating or hooking up, and as a result I frequently call things off after the first night. Figure it's better not to waste my time or the girl's time if it's not gonna work out long term, and disingenuous to pursue a consistent hookup if I think that she wants it to become something more than that and I don't. For one night stands I usually send a text afterwards but I'll admit I don't always.
Here's my problem. Due to other factors in my life, it's hard for me to keep up with girls. My sport and my major keep me constantly busy to the point that I can usually go out only once a week on Saturday nights, sometimes less frequently. Even if I hook up with a girl that I do want to follow up with, it's really hard to find the time and usually things just fall by the wayside. On a related note, when I do take girls home sometimes it's late at night and I have a 6am wakeup. There have been a couple times where I've politely made it clear to girls that it would be better if they didn't stay over for this reason. I walk them home still and all that but I realize now that I probably should just sack up and share my bed for a few hours of shitty sleep.
This is the first time I realized that girls talk to each other to this extent. Hindsight is 20/20. It's frustrating because this girl in particular is definitely one I would have been interested in pursuing beyond the first night. I also don't want to hurt my chances with future girls that might come along that I'd be interested in seriously dating.
Hoping for some insight on how to deal with this situation. Obviously, some damage has been done and there are a few pretty obvious ways I could have avoided it. How do I work with this information and how should it affect my future interactions with girls?
Thanks!
