On another forum someone had been on an iDate(insta date. This is where you meet a girl during daygame and you take her somewhere nearby for a date straight away) with a girl and wondered why she had subsequently flaked on him. I'm reposting my response here because I think it's all you ever need to know about flaking. Post follows:

The number one reason girls flake is that they don't fancy you. There's probably been hundreds of thousands of words written online within the community about flaking, but it's mostly bollocks, it all boils down to if they fancy you or not. People say it's down to building deeper rapport, time bridging properly, investment etc., but at the end of the day if they really fancy you they'll meet you again. If not, they won't.

True there are some other reasons. Hit and run sets that are really quick may mean they aren't comfortable enough to meet you again. External factors in their life might get in the way. I think these account for a small percentage of flakes though.

Anyone who doubts this either hasn't taken many girls' numbers, or is a bit shit at spotting patterns. The obvious pattern I've noticed is that hot girls flake on me waaay more often than average girls. I'd say it goes like this (no I haven't recorded actual stats...):

HB6 - 10% flake HB7 - 40% flake HB8 - 80% flake HB9 - 100% flake (don't really number close many 9s TBH)

The less attractive the girl is, in general the more attracted she'll be to me, the more likely she will be to fancy me, the less likely to flake.

Why do girls give their number when they don't fancy you? Because people generally follow the path of least resistance.

Why do girls go on iDates if they don't fancy you:

It's exciting, getting stopped in the street and being asked on a date straight away It feels like the path of least resistance She's a maybe girl who wants to find out more about you. When she finds out more about you on an iDate, she realises she doesn't fancy you.

I really believe that's all anyone ever needs to know about flaking.
