Go over there man! As you already said, the first thing to do would be to introduce yourself. After that just make some conversation that seems naturally. Don't try too hard to sound smart or funny. Just try to be natural. For eg: the girl works at the store. Go over to her and ask her help about buying shirt/tie/jacket whatever it is you are looking for, that should give you the reason to go over and say hi to her without you looking like a dork. For there on, make normal conversation. Say things that naturally come to you. Don't put a lot of pressure on yourself. What's the worst thing that could happen? And don't build the situation up in your head. Cuz if you do, you'll be a deer in the headlights if she says something unexpected.

Read the sidebar. Use the search function on "approaching" or "opening."
