Ever heard of diminishing marginal returns? A common analogy is an ice-cream (an analogy I shall now torture without mercy).

On a hot day, you've just got your ice-cream from the vendor and it looks amazing. You give it a lick. It's perfect, just what you needed, cool, sweet, refreshing, amazing. You lick again, almost as good, your mouth is starting to cool slightly and it's great.

Each lick is not quite as good as the previous one, it makes you happier, but not by as much. Eventually it won't make you happier or worse, it might make you feel worse - brain-freeze of simply being over-full.

The same applies to people. Unless you're increasing the value of what you're doing, every minute you spend with her will have less positive impact than the previous one.

Therefore the optimum strategy is to swoop in, be awesome for a little while, then swoop out while she's still really valuing the time. Take away her ice-cream after the fifth lick - she's got some real value from it, but still wants more.

If she wants ice-cream, don't just give it to her, withhold it, promising on your terms later and discuss what flavour she'd like to build anticipation. If you don't deliver, say she needs to work harder to deserve it :-)
