Ever get that feeling during conversations that people don't really want to be talking to you?

What you say is true as almost everyone wants to be understood and appreciated...on the other hand the more you inspire them to talk about themselves the more they will like you and be friendly to you and cheer your life up as well...odd how that works.

I agree with this statement. But if at some point the person I am conversing with has no interest in getting to know who I am I will usually come to the conclusion that this isn't somebody I want to be friends with. There is usually always a wall of defenses up when interacting with new people and getting them talking about themselves is an awesome tool to start breaking it down.

True but I dont want to be talking about people who have absolutely no interest in me either. It should be a mutual thing, I ask about your life, you reciprocate and ask about mine. If someone is so self absorbed that they really have no interest in other people I think they're better off being left alone.
