Hey guys, first off on my phone so sorry for editing mistakes.

TLDR: open the set and ask if they have a few minutes to spare while you ask them a few questions. Ask some questions to the whole set like "how're you today" etc and then ask if they know what peer pressure is. If not explain it. Then address the group minus the girl you're interested in and ask if they'll help peer pressure her into giving you her number.

OK so the long story is that I go to university and there are these team study rooms with glass walls facing a hallway on the way to class. I see about 4 girls in one room an I notice I want to talk to one of them and knock on the door and let myself in. I ask the group if they have a few seconds to spare and I just want to ask a few questions before class starts and they all agree. I introduce myself and say I have two simple questions 1) does everyone know what peer pressure is? While doing this I look all the girls in the we as they nod. Then I say "OK I was wondering if you guys could help me, sorry what was your name? (To girl in question)...Jen! I was hoping if you guys could help me peer pressure Jen here into giving me her number. I was just walking by and knew I'd kick myself all day for not asking! Again, making eye contact and smiling with every girl. In the end, she didn't do it but during her hesitation the whole group was on my side saying I was cute and stuff. When she finally blurted out the weak excuse she had a boyfriend they all laughed and joked about how I was better. At this point she was getting really red so I stopped the group and took my leave.

I think this approach is good if you're worried about your first large set, especially at a school. Also, some things I could've done better are engage the group more and maybe do some more role playing to ensure that my target doesn't have a boyfriend. Something I'm hoping to try is to play a game where you have to lie and ask random personal questions.
