Now that I've overcome my AA, I worry I'm being too handsy and engaging in too much eye contact. How do you know when you're doing too much of a good thing?

The short answer is there is no maximum, if you are focusing on it then you are already ahead of the game. Your question is like, how hard am I supposed to pedal my bike? If you actually know how to bike, it stops being about pedaling and instead on gaining flow and speed. Just keep looking people in the eyes, gaining confidence, being open and things will fall into place! Cheers!

I just read this thing on WayTooSocial about proper handshakes and how you should be feeling out the other person.

I'm a firm believer that micro-calibration is the answer. Experience and paying attention to people's reaction will let you know when you can push further or when you should pull back.

That said, it's ok to make make mistakes when you're starting out, we all do! Even if you 'do too much', you'll eventually find out with experience.

I feel that what you're trying to ask is how not to be creepy while escalating and doing eye contact. It'll be creepy if you think it's creepy. You need to touch a girl and be assertive, just know that if she's not attracted, that's good to know, and you will only know if you go for it, that way you can move onto the next target.
You don't only need to overcome your approach anxiety, you need to avoid seeking approval/emotion/anything, just have fun, be social, be cool, be interesting.
