I just kind of realized this when I was thinking back to where I was and where I am now. 20 months ago I had just turned 23 years old- I was working as an intern, I was pretty shy, I had never been on a date, held hands, kissed a girl or anything.

Today, I'm 24 and although, I'm by no means a master of seduction or even really a "ladies man," my life is objectively going much better- I'm now a full time employee at the same company I was an intern for, I'm making more money, I'm less shy, I go out on the weekends more frequently, I've lost my virginity. I've got a great girl who likes me, but she's currently studying abroad, but she wants to get back with me once she's back in the US. In the meantime while she's gone, I've got a "date" set up for next week with a girl who wants to hook up with me. And yet, none of this seems to make a difference- right now, I'm depressed because I had a date with a different girl earlier this week that didn't go too well and she doesn't want to see me anymore.

I've gone from being depressed about never getting any girls, to being depressed because I've only got 2 girls on the horizon instead of 3. I used to feel like a loser because I never got laid, and now I feel like a loser because I don't get laid as much as some random friend. It's a sliding scale- every time I make progress, my definition of how much progress I have to make to be happy or satisfied moves with it. I can never just sit down and enjoy my success.

If you had told 23 year old me that next year I'd have a great girl overseas that wants to get back with me when she comes back in a few months, and in the meantime I had plans next week with a hot 18 year old who just wants to hook up with me- I'd probably die of excitement. I wouldn't be worried about things not working out with the girl from last week and not having a third girl as a back up plan- I'd just be psyched to have a girls number in my phone book.

Have any of you guys experienced this? Had success and made progress but didn't become any happier? How can I stop worrying and just enjoy all of the progress I've made in a year and half?
