I normally don't ask help, but this situation has just left me clueless.

I have talked to a girl for a very long time and have developed feelings for her. She seemed into me too, so I 'manned up' and told her this when we saw eachother on a party. She didn't respond the way I had expected to do: she said 'What?' (it was a loud area too), and I, not knowing how to deal with the situation, was afraid to repeat my words and walked away.

After this event, a couple of weeks went by without us having any contact at all. Nevertheless, one day we started talking again, after which we continued the close contact (real life / WhatsApp) which we had before the party.

I was glad that I apparently didn't miss my shot and decided that it would be time for me to ask her on a date; to this time do things right.

At that moment in time, she 'texted' me almost everyday and apart from that we also talked much whenever we saw eachother face to face.

In spite of all this, she said that she was busy and repeated the same thing (with a nice tone, using words as 'sadly') when I suggested another day.

I am not completely ignorant so after this I was done pursuing her: I deleted her number and all the other things that I associated with her in order to forget her and continue my life.

I still talked to her whenever I saw here but did not 'search' her on party's anymore and stopped texting here.

After 1,5 week of doing this, it seemed like I had made the right choice by giving up hope. Nevertheless, she then out of the blue texted me with a line which was clearly just her wanting to talk with me. After this, we texted for a couple of hours and had some great conversations when I saw her at school the next day.

This whole story leads to my problem (TL;DR) and the reason why I do not know what to do: she knows I like her alot, has kinda 'ignored' my tries to pick her up, but then seeks contact again whenever I have just decided to let her go - as if she genuinely likes me.

I like her alot so I am eager and happy to jump on every sign of her liking me, but also confused since she has kinda turned me down two times. I can not wrap my head around why you would even text someone to, after that, talk for hours when you do not like them, so please Reddit, I need your help.
