My family went from being quite poor growing up to rather wealthy now (through a series of good investments), and my parents raised me to be hard working and a lot of my childhood traits remain from being an unconfident kid in unfitting hand downs.

Recently I moved to university in Romanian, the culture here is extremely superficial and girls in clubs are extremely evidently attracted to money (regardless of looks, personality and everything), it's a very strange culture. However the problem remains that although I now have expensive stuff and can afford nicer stuff, I am extremely quiet and never mention it to the point that people assume I'm either lying about wealth when I mention it or I'm hiding something dark.

I'm not sure where to post this to ask for advice, however this subreddit provides the most concrete advice. Is it worth changing who I am to be perceived more affluent or continue as I am, that being said I do need to work on self confidence but I don't know, I think this is somewhat a problem here. Especially as I have a friend who looks near identical to me here who rocks fake Audemars and has a completely different attitude and seems to be doing a lot better than me.
