Re: "Blue Jasmine" (the film). I'm no fan of Woody Allen but this was a truly illuminating viewpoint on how women see, rate and value different kinds of men (though that's was not the film's theme or primary goal).

The sexy handyman dick, the suave but player husband, the borderline dateable middle of the road beta provider (Louis CK), and the rich, romantic boyfriend/husband material full of potential. All underlaid by the class, education, character and style of the men. Subtly viewed for their "value" from a woman's perspective, albeit at different stages of her life.

I often find that our journey is diminished by the lack of clear, defined models of the type of man we want to be. Watching such films distinctly from a woman's PoV gives you strong motivation to target the best possible model that you can be and then try to bring out the aspects of you that is the closest fit to that model.

Such works of art clarify what I would like to "model" myself after.
