I love to travel and go on adventures. How do I convey or talk about that without sounding pretentious?

You are way overthinking this. I don't know where you get the idea that travel is pretentious.

Talking about travel is great, since many women have that as an interest as well. It is fine to be well traveled and talk about your adventures. The only way i can think of it being duchey is if you treat it as an exclusivity thing (you only travel first class, You are richer than them, nyah nyeah, etc).

Ask them first about their dreams, any place they want to visit, places they've been etc. weave in your own experiences ("that's awesome, that was one of my favorite countries!) if they're a good conversationalist they'll ask about your experiences. If they don't then they are socially incompetent or are not interested in talking to you.

I'm not sure if you are saying you want to talk to people about traveling OR you're getting in a rut when people talk to you about hobbies/traveling.

If it's the former, let the opportunity present itself. You don't travel so ppl will think your cool, do you? If the moment comes, let er rip, if not, oh well. You're still a cool guy without that one thing, yah?

You feel like you're bragging about doing something? That's all it is to me. You've done something. As long as you aren't trying to seek favor (like I mentioned above), there's nothing wrong in letting ppl know you do things. Some ppl may get offended, thank them for letting you know who to keep out of your life. It's not a big deal.

If you really want to be the first to bring it up, ask them if they travel. Or anything that will lead into a convo about traveling.

If they do travel, then you can swap stories. If not, you can ask why not, and somewhere down the line in that convo (if the answer isn't a simple, "I just don't", you may want to listen and be prepared to go off to another subject, depending on the explanation) share how you've grown from your traveling experiences.

I don't really know how to continue the conversation on the subject.

How do you usually approach the subject?

While one does not want to be a kiss-ass, you may want to try to keep their interest in mind. Talking to you is not going to be the highlight of their day unless they get something out of it for themselves.

You can always try leaving bait in your sentences. Frame them in a way that people will have to respond. Such as, "The people in x country sure act different than people here", or "I've got to tell you the most amazing thing I found out about in x country - have you ever woven baskets underwater?"

Even if the person doesn't travel, you can try to connect your experiences to the interests they do have. Talk about the awesome pastries you had in Italy to someone who likes cooking, etc etc.

"Practice practice practice", and realize, you probably won't get what you want, unless you meet with someone else who likes traveling too. But that is just fine. You're more than a guy who travels alot. The opportunities to shine will come.

You can always find a group that is into traveling as well, if you really want to share your experiences.

Such is the woe of a person with a hobby. Only another hobbyist will care as much. They're the ones who will understand as much though.
