This graphic doesn't communicate anything useful to the novice whiskey-drinker.

Whiskey tips:
no rocks, no mixers. Order it "neat".
when learning a new whiskey, try it once poured straight from the bottle and once more with a small splash of water. Some whiskeys improve significantly with a few drops of water, others are unchanged or even diminished. Learn the personalities of the ones you like.
don't be a snob for its own sake. There's nothing wrong with liking blends.

I tend to like the smokey/peaty scotches but I'm good with bourbon now and again. My summer time drink is bourbon iced tea with honey and citrus.
