I stumbled upon this subreddit about a week ago and have been hooked ever since. After reading through a bunch of posts on here and watching a few youtube videos of infield footage, I was itching to get out and try some of this stuff. Here's how it went...

I went out with my bro and two cousins to a local coffee shop that's open pretty late. As we're walking past the shop I see a cute girl sitting near the window chatting to her friend, I flash her a quick smile when we make eye contact. We walk into the shop and turns out that one of the only tables open is right next to them. As we're going to take seats, there's a seat that would've put me in a great spot to open a set with her, but my cousin took it. Regardless, I spent the rest 45 minutes or so exchanging laughs and stories with my friends and waiting for my chance. She stood up and left with her friend and as soon as they were out the door I got up to approach them outside.

As soon as I got outside I noticed that one of my cousins came after me and wanted to come with me. He's visiting from Turkey right now so he doesn't speak English, but he said he wanted to come along and I wasn't about to exclude him. I waited a bit too long when they left so they had actually gotten pretty close to the parking lot while I was still about 40 yards away. I felt like if I let them get into their car before approaching then I wouldn't have felt comfortable during my set so I walked a bit quicker and when I was about 10 yards away I just said "Excuse me" so they would turn around. Then I walked and went for the direct approach.

"I saw you back at the restaurant and I think you're really cute so I wanted to come say Hi" She giggled and said thank you. Then I introduced myself and asked her her name and her friends. After a couple lines of banter I realized I never introduced my cousin. So I introduced him and explained how he was just visiting and blah blah blah. Anyways after a bit more banter, I went for the # close.

I'll admit, I didn't do it as confidently or smoothly as I would've liked. And I didn't get the result I hoped for because she said she didn't like giving out her number, but she offered to give me her business card instead. She said her personal facebook and instagram were on the card so I could contact her there.

Anyways, I felt amazing afterwards because I had never done anything like that. Thank you seddit!!
