As someone who has trouble with approaches and social anxiety, I recently did one. First step was smiling, she was alone sitting by herself, so that did make it alot easier. What I've noticed from approaches I've done is that the first thing you say doesn't really matter, it's more to get your foot in the door. I met my best friend by asking her if she knew had any suggestions for cleaning dog pee out of a carpet, (she was a housekeeper at the time). We still joke about that to this day.

By just doing it. You will be surprised how well it works out. You can practice f.e. at your work or school by just saying something to someone you seldom or never talk. Another tip from a PUA is to talk to random girls you see on the street, Starbucks or simple anywhere. You just say something, maybe about the weather or any other Shit and wait for her response (or maybe there isn't any) and then BACK OFF. This is just to get into the approach and get the flow starting. Eventually you'll see how well this works out and loose your fear. Sometimes you'll get a good response, sometimes just a response sometimes not any.
