Background
I'm a 23M attending community college, paying for it by myself with my two jobs. I'm 6' 1" and I weight 185 lbs with approx 13% body fat. This was right after my morning class. I'm a magician, I'm an artist, and bodybuilding enthusiast.
The experience
I wrote this all down immediately after it happened so I wouldn't forget it. Nervous. I approached a girl and said "Hey" She looked at me like I was crazy at first or trying to sell something (which I was - myself). Like she wasn't sure what to expect. I paused and said nothing (this pause was actually not planned, but! It was intentional in the moment, whenever something freaks me out, I mentally step back and reorient myself) She asked me what my name was. I told her it was G and said, "And yours?" Believe it or not, none of this interaction came across as awkward to me. "J" I replied "J... listen. (another deliberate pause) You're beautiful." She reciprocated with a smile and said "Thanks". I replied "Let's get tea." She replied "Yeah, okay! Do you have class after this?" I said "I do, I'm busy all day but I have free time tomorrow." and she said "Yeah, okay. Tomorrow." I closed with "Great! I'll see you later." and left.
Commentary
To be honest I was totally thrown off. It wasn't until I walked away that I realized I didn't tell her a time as to when I going to pick her up. I intentionally want to skip the whole phone thing for three reasons:
-
Every guy is asking for her phone number, she's truly a beautiful girl.
-
When I land that first date I don't want to ruin it with texting, and
-
There's no excuse to do a drunk dial later in life.
My favorite moment of this experience was my pause. When this happened I smiled unintentionally at her because I realized how different I was acting than normal. I felt nervous, and being quiet seemed like a totally natural response. My approaches need to occur more often, so that I can become comfortable with putting people out of their comfort zone. Twice a week is my going to be my goal for approaches in a week - this will be a monumental goal for me. The chances of getting turned down with my approach so far seem to be pretty slim, but still I somewhat mentally talked myself out of the real close I wanted.
What I learned
• This style of approach will catch women off guard and immediately put me at an advantage in the conversation.
• In order to use this advantage, I have to have something to follow up with, I was thinking the obvious would be an introduction and then to make a connection with the hard close I was going for, in this case it was the line(s) "You're beautiful." and " Let's get tea."
• It's ok and perfectly natural to maintain complete silence. This is a chance to reorganize your thoughts, and gives her the time to engage in conversation
• She not only was sending positive signals, she was also cooperating with what I was saying.
• What you eat doesn't make me shit. I was reminded I am the only person who can affect change in my life and I was approaching this sexy sweet girl for myself.
• My first close went great. I didn't seal the deal yet because I was nervous, and thinking way too much, this is a detriment I plan to overcome by becoming more familiar with approaches as I encounter them, I also figured out my next line should either be "I'm busy today, as I'm sure you are too, I'll pick you up at your place at 6:27 tomorrow." (I use an unusual time because it is memorable, no one fucking talks like that, and it makes her wonder why I was so damn specific)
What suggestions would /r/seduction make? Is this all going well? I'm going to see her the next time the class meets. I feel like the way everything went down didn't close anything, and there will be no approach anxiety for me. I've already admitted my interest in her, and she reciprocated. How should I seal the deal next time I see her? Right now the plan is to stick to what my original close was. Any suggestions and critiques will be warmly welcomed.
