First of all, there is nothing that turns me off more than a girl completely and utterly all confidence in herself, then seeking compliments to fill that void. No, no no. Just no.

That said, if it is more of a passing comment I deflect it. Comments like that doesn't deserve to be qualified. Continue right along with the conversation's trajectory before she said that. If I can't deflect, I'll ask "is that a problem?" and go with the conversation from there. It is more combative than most would prefer, but works for me because it plays to my style.
