Ever since I first started dating girls in middle school about 10 years ago, I've had this problem of meeting a cool/cute girl, build some rapport, and then I immediately continuously think of positive potential scenarios of us being involved together. For example, I recently met this cute Korean and right now all I can think about is us going out having an awesome time, kissing, holding hands, doing a bunch of fun stuff, having sex, etc.
I feel there's two sides to this:
1) It's harmful since it's keeping me up at night, and my thoughts are saturated with her, indicating I'm way too invested in her (oneitis). My heartrate is up, and I'm getting way horny.
2) All of my visions are directing me towards victory. Thinking about us having sex, having a good time, etc. It makes me think about how pro athletes pump themselves up by visualizing themselves already winning.
So I think in essence I get over-excited which begets over-investment which begets oneitis. I realize visualizing to a certain point is way harmful especially since I've only just met these girls. This process seems to conjure up some crazy emotions I haven't dealt with since high school, and I have urges to suppress them with al kinds of binging. I feel like the best way to deal with this is to ride it out and push through. I'm sure this is just growing pains from trying to transition from AFC to actually being competent in male-female interaction.
Since middle school, I've associated this feeling of non-stop thought about a girl with "falling in love", but I've been increasingly doubting that especially since it occurs mostly right after I met them, but at the same time I feel the opposite would be equally bad. If I had complete apathy towards women, what would be the point in enjoying their presence? I feel should aim for a trend of decreased apathy over time as well as talking to multiple girls to ease anxiety of possible severance of the relationships between me and these girls, but at the same time if I was really truly confident wouldn't I have no need for talking to multiple girls?
My ambivalence is partly due to my recent discovery of Mark Manson's book "Models" which I've been really jiving with, but it seems to be the antithesis of some other methods that I've read like the Mystery Method. I feel ultimately Mark Manson's model will lead to a much happier lifestyle than the canned routine model, which does seem to cause problems at the relationship level (as depicted in Neil Strauss' "The Game" in multiple instances within his own life, Mystery's, and a bunch of other PUA's)
What I want from you guys is some reassurance that this is a normal phase to go through, how I'm thinking about this is right, and that I'll get over it eventually through multiple interactions or just to tell me that I'm missing something.
