I've been where you are, the biggest and hardest thing for me to realize was that I didn't love her, I loved an idealized unrealistic version of her that I had slowly created in my head that had no basis in reality. It's a tough pill to swallow, but even if you two would be great together, she isn't the woman you feel in love with... THE WOMAN YOU LOVE DOESN'T EXIST. It's tough to hear, and it devastated me once I realized that. But I can promise you this, the real thing is so much better than you imagined!

Tldr: Move on from her and go out there and date. Interact with and date other women and you'll be better for it... I promise you.

Move on man. Get with other women. She will notice and she won't understand it but she'll all of a sudden start to feel attracted to you.

Love is prooobably a little overkill. However, just message her all friendly.

"hey, its been forever! How have you been??" is simple, and acknowledges the length of time. However I'd probably do it over facebook if possible.
