You lost at high school. Many of the people who won at high school get complacent and fail to see that guys like you are working hard every day to get better. It's a new day, a new season, and this is a different you, a better you, and if you work hard you'll be even better tomorrow. The chicks you meet now don't know that you lost at high school, nor do they care. Deep down, they have their own insecurities.

The most important thing that you need to internalize is that you are the one choosing the woman (or women) that get to hang out with you. Make them work. Make them clear the bar that you set.

Make strong eye contact and when you get positive reinforcement continue that thought train. When you get negative reinforcement, mentally change the subject.

I was bullied in school for what I cannot even remember now, but that verbal bullying alone created a crippling inferiority complex that I've had trouble shaking for the last 12 years.

See a therapist. These issues rarely disappear by themselves.

Have you built a decent circle of friends yet? I've found that's where you might see the most benefit. Friends might also tease you about your flaws, but only in an affectionate kind of way, and through that you learn to get over your hang ups and stop taking yourself seriously.

I've struggled with this for too many years and it really gets me down. I'm ok with friends, but I find it hard loosening up around coworkers who banter with each other.

You have to accept yourself, flaws and all. Another idea is to put yourself in the minds of the people who bullied you. Don't forget, they were children like you. Children are playful and constantly push boundaries, and, yes, some are malicious, but they are on autopilot. Why does bullying even happen? Try to get to the point where you see those bullies as the innocent children they were.

Hopefully that understanding will help you come to terms with the reality of it. You're not a victim any more.
