"what" is considered rude by most people I know. "Pardon me" or "I'm sorry, can you say that again" is more appropriate, especially with an authority figure.

Being Alpha and being nice don't have to be exclusive of each other.

I assume you've considered that there's a possibility that she's right? Not as a woman, but as your boss? I don't get away with just saying "what?" with my boss, it's either yes or how can I help you sir/ma'am?

It sounds like she's impatient, but like you said, you're new--and it's normal for managers to be short with the new guy, you're a burden. And frankly it's a pizza hut, you can't always expect the paradigm of professionalism there, come on man...

has no one here ever worked in a restaurant before?

I am a server who is supposed to get out at closing. Occasionally, she has kept me after my scheduled shift to finish up work in the kitchen area because, she wants to "get the fuck out of here."

...this is standard. literally every restaurant I've worked at doesn't let you go home because "your shift is over". closing means when the restaurant CLOSES aka all the work is done, not when they stop letting customers in. you're probably the employee that bitches about how his shift is over and it's unfair you have to stay. everyone, even your coworkers, hate you.

One time she asked me if I had any credit card tips at the end of the night, I was new and simply said "yeah" and walked away. For some reason, she thought I said "no" and when I later asked for my tips, she told me she already counted all the money in the drawer and wasn't allowed to give any more out once it's counted (It sucked, but she did give me ten dollars of her own money to compensate, which was pretty cool.)

so... you answered a question from your boss and walked away? she probably tried to get your attention. she wasn't out to screw you, considering she gave you 10$ instead of saying "tough, learned your lesson this time".

Now, however, when she asks for the tips she simply says, "tips, now." in an abrasive, almost flat tone.

she doesn't have to hold your fucking hand. it's pizza hut. she wants the tips, and is making sure you don't fuck up again and lose your money. stop being a baby.

When she asks me something and I reply with "what?" she gets mad and says it's "rude" but doesn't seem to care when anybody else does it.

seeing as how you don't like this lady, enough to post on a fucking forum about how to deal with your minimum wage supervisor, you probably give off that vibe. look, if she says it's rude, stop doing it. it's not hard.

honestly, you seem like you're being a little bitch and trying to blame it on her being a woman. she's acting like a normal supervisor that deals with minimum wage workers.

Learn the ropes quickly so that she doesn't have to worry about you doing your job incorrectly. If she starts to have faith in you as an employee she's likely to be more friendly towards you. All it takes is a couple times of her asking you to do something and you telling her you've already done it for her to lighten up.

Also alpha doesn't mean being a dick and beta doesn't mean being nice. It's more about backbone and holding your own.

Its just pizza hut go get another job. If this bothers you, you may want to avoid the restaurant industry altogether. What you are complaining about sounds like pretty standard service industry bs and is pretty light compared to a lot of what I have seen. (Working in restaurants for a little over ten years) in her eyes you messed up and she had to give you her money (really your money she really should have found a way to count down that drawer again but maybe there is a safe she cant reopen or whatever) so now you are going to have to work that much harder to show you can be relied upon. The service industry in general does not take kindly to people who cannot handle their shit. Move with a purpose, speak clearly and enunciate so people can understand what you are saying, and dont be afraid to stick up for yourself when you know you are right. This is more about having repect for yourself than alpha/beta bs I would not even worry about that. Just remember that it is going to take time and hard work to regain the respect of that assistant manager. The question is do you think it will be worth the effort?

It seems that you have misunderstanding of what she expects from you. So i'd suggest complimenting her on something, then asking explaining to her that you don't understand her instructions and would like to know how you could improve. Ask her politely and humbly. Then thank her.

Once she explains what you need to do exactly, and follow it exactly then you can meaningfully assess the situation.

It sounds like she may be intentionally underpaying you. You might want to talk to lawyer. The first consultation is always free, and they only collect if you win.
