Say hi to both, involve her friend in the conversation but make it obvious who you like, ask for her number, get it or not and leave. It's not rocket science. Remember, it's only weird if you make it weird.

I've asked a girl out in front of 5 of her friends, and they all thought it was super cute. One of them went out of the way to say "Well done for having the balls to do that".

She was already taken though ha!

Just be honest, say what you want to say. ("I thought you were really beautiful and I had to ask for your number blah blah blah") and it'll be fine. The WORST thing that could happen is she says no. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.

Walk next to them on her side. Make strong eye contact. Speak confidently. Say "I'm your name here I think you're cute." If you do this correctly she will smile. Talk for a bit. ask for the number on a high point. Ask like "Give me your number, maybe we'll hang out sometime." You need to practice with a lot of girls to get good though...

This is why it's important to expand your social circle as wide as you can. Ideally, you would at least peripherally know quite a few people. If you knew her friend, then approaching her would not just be easier, but it would offer you a leg up on the competition by the social proof.

Just go up to her and her friend grab her and kiss her. And say dinner date I'll be at your house at 8. Girls love guys that are in control I know I do:)
