I know this varies significantly on region and person, but I recently jumped back into the dating scene after a 1.5 year long relationship. I have gotten about seven numbers so far, and I have been able to get three of those girls out on a first date. Out of the three I went on a first date with, two of them were boring so I made no attempt to follow up on for a second date. One of them has been good at contacting me and wanting to go on several dates so that's good. The four I was not able to get out on a date, I was not very persistent because they seemed very flakey (made up excuses, etc) and not worth my time.

Just wondering what I should expect as of a commitment rate when I get numbers. Today I got another two numbers of really hot chicks, but my hopes are not high. My general strategy is:

  1. I converse and escalate. This takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes. I end with "Hey I gotta get out of here" or "I have to get back to my friend(s)" and "but I would love to grab a drink sometime". If they agree, I grab their number and text them about 15-30 minutes later with "Hey xx, it's xxx :) Nice to meet you tonight!". Pretty usual stuff according to the sidebar.

  2. I text them 1-2 days later with something like "Hey xxx. Hope you're having a great day! Wanna grab that drink sometime?". Once they reply I usually ask if they are free on a day, within a week.

  3. I meet them for a date, do my usual escalation/conversing. If the chick is into me, I escalate more and go for a kiss. If they are not, I don't push it and end the date early.

I guess I am looking for someone to tell me if what I am doing is right and if my expectations are right. I mean I wish I could get 100% of the chicks I meet out on a date but it's probably not realistic.
