My preferred idea of sigma is alpha in the wrong culture.

Imagine you decided to like all the things everyone else likes that you probably hate.

That's the only real difference. As a sigma you are playing your alpha role in a fashion that most people are unable to understand so your community treats you as an outcast. That doesn't stop you from doing what you do.

Find a community of like minded people and you will be alpha.

Its like being Alpha without the responsibility.

However, unless life has beaten you down severely several times and you have gotten up again, you are not a Sigma.

Protip: A Sigma does not want to be an Alpha, although he could be.
