You're overthinking it way too much.

Let's say you're with a friend in a bar and you two split up for a moment and you meet a girl, is she going to say; "This is weird. He's by himself." No, she's going to be curious as to who you are (assuming she's interested).

You have a built in store already; "I just moved to the area and want to meet some cool people. Hi, I'm bertrand."

One of my brothers was a huge player and would go to bars and clubs alone. He would go the bar, grab a drink, and start chopping it up with some girl nearby. He almost always got laid. You can too.

Next time you are at a bar or club, look at the actual bar and see how many guys are walking up to it by themselves. Usually they leave their group or friend to grab a drink from the bar (especially if it's a busy one and hard for both to stand there).
